Adult Volunteers

Opportunities

  • Support our staff and engage kids and families in hands-on science-related activities offered in the Animal Discovery Zone, the Outdoor Nature LabHands-on Biotech, the Ingenuity Challenges program and our museum floor.
  • Support special projects and events that happen on-site and off-site.
  • Be an ambassador of our center by supporting programs that are offered in the community by Lawrence On-The-Go 
  • Weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon shifts are available

Requirements

  • Available 3–6 hours per month for a minimum of 60 hours (*core opportunities require 2 shifts and 6 hours per month)
  • Access to email communication
  • Regular and active participation in volunteer shifts and activities
  • Complete all forms required and comply with volunteer processes described in the Adult Volunteer Handbook
  • Attend an orientation session. The Volunteer Orientation is a two-hour event for new volunteers to learn about The Lawrence’s mission, programs, and different volunteer opportunities. It provides new volunteers with a chance to learn about the benefits and/or challenges of volunteering for The Lawrence. Volunteers will take a tour of The Lawrence, talk to current volunteers, and see them in action facilitating in some of the areas where they will be working.
